On our way from Shiraz to the town of Semirom, we passed a small gorge.
And as always as we come across such spots we take a look with our
binoculars.
To our surprise we saw some violet 'dots' on the opposite rock face.
Because
there is a river running between the road and the rocks we could not get
to the
opposite side. Luckily a few km further there was a bridge, from there I
walked
back along the river which wasn't easy because the river bank was very
steep.
On this 27th of April 2003 I found
Dionysia bryoides on these east facing rocks at
an altitude of approx. 2250m, still nice flowering.
Although plants in cultivation flower easily, this species is one of
the most
difficult to grow.
